Since 2006, MantaFest has been an exclusive gathering of underwater photographers — from ambitious beginners to seasoned professionals — drawn by Yap’s year-round manta rays, healthy reefs, and authentic island culture. The event features daily dive excursions, photography workshops led by world-renowned image-makers, and hands-on instruction in the water and on land.
This year’s program welcomes back acclaimed photographers Tim Rock, David Fleetham, and videographer Logan Wood, who will be sharing their expertise through a series of small-group sessions. Instruction covers everything from composition and lighting to post-processing and storytelling, with real-time feedback during dive trips and cultural shoots around the island. MantaFest also features daily photo challenges and a friendly competition with exciting prizes, including dive travel packages and top-tier diving gear.
New for 2025: Blackwater diving joins the lineup. Participants will plunge into Yap’s open ocean at night to photograph otherworldly marine creatures in the water column — an experience as visually surreal as it is technically challenging.
MantaFest continues to inspire and grow a global community of underwater visual storytellers through immersive, hands-on learning in one of the ocean’s most iconic destinations. Each year brings new creative opportunities, fresh faces, and unforgettable moments both above and below the surface.
