    90 minutes at the Caverns

    Posted by gm@mantaray.com on December 5, 2013
The day you take your macro system to the reef is certainly the day that a big animal show is going to go down 15 feet away from you. Yesterday was no different for me. I jumped on a boat headed south to the Caverns site and adjacent walls. There's all kinds of stuff going...

Phase one of our solar power project is now complete and producing clean energy for the resort. 56 panels are now on-line and are capable of producing 13 kilowatts of power an hour. There will be two more phases to the project and when finished, we will have something on the order of 224 panels...

    Big Animal Research

    Posted by gm@mantaray.com on December 3, 2013
Julie Hartup is back on island for Thanksgiving week, more manta research and data collecting as well as some general yapping around. The Manta Ray Bay helps this project with daily ID shots and maintaining a manta interaction logbook. Each time a manta is encountered on a dive, if possible, an ID shot is snapped...

If you just let us know…

    Posted by gm@mantaray.com on November 26, 2013
We're always more than happy to do something special for our friends.  This time it was Daniel and his wife Marion celebrating her 50th birthday on their recent Yap dive trip. They wanted to have a toast with everybody at the hotel and hosted a social call in the Nautical Weaver Bar. Detlef prepared a...

    Yap Status Report

    Posted by gm@mantaray.com on November 20, 2013
The whole island has been buzzing with divers - there were about 7 boats running when this week kicked off. For Yap, that's a crowd. The good thing is that those 7 boat groups get to share over 100 miles of barrier reef. Things are running day and night and some Aussies are taking 4...

    Anna Filey September 17, 1959 to October 28, 2013

    Posted by gm@mantaray.com on October 28, 2013
“She’s no longer with us”.  With those words, my wife Patricia Acker informed us that Anna Filey passed away a few minutes ago at 1 PM, Manila time, in the Intensive Care Unit of Delos Santos Hospital in Quezon City.  Anna has been very sick and in and out of the Yap Hospital for some...

    Posted by gm@mantaray.com on October 15, 2013

Before and after the diving – seen through the eyes of our Brazilian friend José Palazzo

    Posted by gm@mantaray.com on October 15, 2013
Often, a trip to distant places makes us apprehensive about the conditions for hosting. After all, it is common for Brazilians have to spend 25 to 30 hours hopping from plane to plane to get the most coveted destinations in the Pacific, and all we want when we get there , besides diving , is...

Antes e Depois dos Mergulhos em Yap… Muita Mordomia!

    Posted by gm@mantaray.com on October 11, 2013
