Bill’s Update #23: A Final Farewell to a Dear Friend
It is said that one of the greatest joys in life is the friends that you make along the way and the experiences you have during your life journey. My family and I have had to say our final goodbye to one such friend, Teolu Pedrosa, this past week. Teolu worked with me when I was managing the port in Yap at the Wa’ab Transportation Company, he helped me design and build the Manta Ray Bay Hotel & Yap Divers. When Patricia and I decided to purchase the Manta Ray Bay Hotel && Yap Divers from Wa’ab, he decided to move with me to help run our maintenance department.
My wife Patricia always referred to Teolu as my “sidekick”, because we were always planning on ways of expanding the business during numerous unofficial manager’s meetings, which we called “happy hour”. Teolu was always my gaffer and boat mechanic during our fishing trips and never needed a blueprint to find any wiring or piping in the hotel, as he had everything neatly recorded in his head.
Teolu has left behind a legacy with us as one of the backbones of our family’s success, but also in his offsprings: Lillybeth, Jude, Vincent, Louise, Carlo, Third, Jake, Jason and Jaden. He will be remembered as a dear friend, a brother, a father, an uncle, a husband and a grandfather. Rest in peace my dear brother!
